Oshakati Totem Expo – Celebrating Culture and Heritage

The Oshakati Totem Expo is an annual cultural event held in Oshakati, Namibia, aimed at preserving and promoting traditional heritage, unity, and identity among various Namibian communities. The expo highlights the significance of totems in local customs, emphasizing their role in ancestry, identity, and social cohesion.

The event features traditional performances, cultural exhibitions, storytelling sessions also known as Oxungi, and educational workshops, alongside a vibrant trade fair that showcases local businesses, crafts, and cuisine. It serves as a platform for entrepreneurs, artists, and cultural groups to engage with the public while fostering economic and social development.

Organized by the Oshakati Town Council, the Totem Expo has grown into a key annual attraction, bringing together communities from across the country to celebrate Namibia’s rich cultural diversity.
